I am slowly moving our cluttered gallery walls to something a little more simple. I hate dusting the super busy walls and I’ve been more drawn lately to simplifying our décor…while not sacrificing a fun pop! I started with the little wall between our bedroom and the living room and then moved to our back entry way…and now, the wall between my daughter’s bedroom and the guest room!
The before…
While I have loved the funky, colorful picture frames and other cutesy items, my kiddos continue to remind me that they are getting older and “too cool for school”. So an update was needed! Plus, I needed to get rid of the off-white trim and door color anyway. Two birds, one stone! 🙂
I started by removing all of the items from the wall and giving it a good scrub with hot water and tide. Followed by painting the trim a pure white and the doors the legendary gray color from my previous project. I knew I wanted to continue the pops of the black/white wall paper to give the house an overall sense of consistency. Finally, we are blessed beyond blessed with some original paintings by Chris’ mom and I’m thrilled this piece has a more prominent place in our home! So, without further adieu…the after:
I need to straighten the air conditioner plate and eventually replace the insides of the light switch/outlet and I even thought about creating a floating black frame for the artwork…but for now, it’s done! Oh, and would love your thoughts on whether a little bench or table would give this space more purpose? Comments welcomed!
