My next home DIY project is going to be…drum roll please…our back entry way! We use this as the main entrance to our home for a variety of reasons, including it’s where we park our cars but also, our front entrance is actually hard for guests to access (which is a project for a different day!). Because this space is what introduces guests to our home, I feel like it needs a more impressive pop! However, I still need it to be functional for our daily use. So here we go!
Current Situation:
Inspiration Board:
My Game Plan:
- I’m going to use left over wall paper from the DIY Feature Wall project for the top half of the main wall (because I have it, like it, and it will help make the house more cohesive).
- I’m going to reuse the hooks, frames, and wall décor but will likely toss the candle sconce. It just gets in the way a bit and is a beast to dust.
- I’m going to paint the interior side of the door either black (to match the exterior side) or continue with the darker grey as the other interior doors throughout the home. I need to see some samples on the door next to some samples on the bottom half of the main wall to really determine which color should go where!
- Next, I’m going to try my hand at DIY Board and Batten! This should be fun!
- Finally, when our puppy will allow it, I’ll be adding a fun runner to make the space a little more cozy!
Pending Decisions:
- Should I paint the back entry door black or dark gray?
- Should I paint the board & batten gray or a moody blue?
- Should I just wallpaper and board & batten the main wall or both walls?
Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
My votes- Dark gray. Moody blue. Both. I can’t wait to see it!
Thank you so much! Now, I just need a free weekend to tackle! lol!
